It’s been a year since we launched version 1.0 of the Dashboard, and what a journey it has been!
2014 saw a new buzz at Databound as we began having conversations about creating a “Bird’s Eye View” tool, something which could give our users an at-a-glance insight into the status of their EMUE-automated processes. Users were creating time-saving scripts at such a rate that we thought there would surely be further time savings in simplifying the job of maintaining those scripts. As we researched, we found that on average our users were spending five hours a week managing their EMUE scripts, often far more, and we knew we could help with that. But what exactly would we show in Bird’s Eye View, and how would we show it? Ideas flew, whiteboards were filled, erased and filled again.
As the year reached its end, the name ‘Dashboard’ floated to the surface of the conversation, and it stuck. The green light came and development began. Four months of development and three months of beta testing later, in June 2015, we proudly launched the Dashboard as a web-based companion app to EMUE, designed to offer insight, control and validation.
We were confident in our newest offering, and the feedback bore out that confidence. In September, we surveyed our Dashboard users and every single one of our respondents reported that it had saved them time. Today, we have over two hundred registered Dashboard users across thirty-five sites, and the Dashboard has monitored over half a million individual script runs!
Over the last year, we have introduced the ability to run bulk operations on your scripts, the ability to define process monitor and process writer roles within your organization, and – perhaps best of all – a command within EMUE to refresh the script schedules published to your Dashboard. (If any of this sounds like something you’d like to do and don’t yet know how, please give us a call – we love hearing from you!)
So that’s where we’ve been. With that in the rearview mirror, where are we going next?
We’d like to start letting you get notifications on your script runs.
We’d like to give you more control of script scheduling right from the Dashboard.
We’d like to get some back-end analytics built in to tell us what we can do to improve your experience.
And we’d really like to hear from you about what you’d like to see in the Dashboard.
Thank you for joining us on this journey. It’s been a great year, and we’re looking forward to the next one already.
